If you have been following this blog you know that what we as contributors have tried to highlight the negative aspects, for lack of a more appropriate word, of the shrines. The illegalities that go on here everyday! The children, the runaways, the prostitutes and the druggies! Now I would like to bring your attention to a more controversial issue regarding these shrines. The legalities regarding this subject in the rule book of Islam. Building up these mausoleums seems to have acted as en evil in the society that has succeeded in rising up more evils. People prostrate to these tombs and worship them. They are the devotees of the durbars. They ask the great dead to pray for them to God and they speak of the great people of the shrines as immortals who came to earth! It has prompted rituals and cultures that were never meant to be. Building up shrines has homed much more than was banked on. So why build them up? I’ll welcome any suggestions that you may have for this openly.
I totally agree with the writer who has brought up the root cause of all evils existing in these shrines. Here i ll also add that illiteracy plays a major role in development of such myths. People who have been referred as followers of these durbars often dont even know what damage they are causing to the society and of course to the religion. If you take a look at their side of the stories, they are serving the society. dedicating their lives for the service of shrines and eventually confirming their place in heaven. However what they dont know is that in fact they are stopping so many others from the right path as well as making them do sins as great as SHIRK, while both parties(the ones serving at durbar and people coming there) dont know what they are doing. Again here Government has to play a role and make people understand the true essence of Islam.
ReplyDeleteAoa darbars (shrines) are Resource of peace,blessings,shelter for thousands destitutes.It is not saints or shrines to be blamed for its misuse but authorities should supervise and controle the veritable devotees and the drugsters,bandits etc Javaid
ReplyDeleteAoa some people are ignorant and lack the knowledge of tasawaf(mysticism).first of all, the prophets,saints,shaheeds are alive according to quran and hadith.and to visit their tombs is blessings.no body prostates rather they kiss the place.i cann't explain it in few lines.for certainty one must experience this knowledge like imam Gizhali
